When I think about self-care instead of dieting, I'm less panicky about it all. It's way more manageable. Re. self-care I've been making a bit more time for myself. Now I get in a babysitter so I can go to aqua-aerobics in the evening! Little things like that. I've haven't weight myself in ages, but my clothes are definitely looser. My jeans that I couldn't zip up a few months ago now feel comfortable! So yeah, self-care is the way to go for me.

One thing I have figured out that helps me when I feel overwhelmed is to start saying 'no' to people. I do too much for others, and end up with loads on my plate (excuse the pub). For example, instead of agreeing to mind my sister's 2 kids while she goes clothes shopping, I simply told her that I've too much on today. I been practising it more lately, and it's definitely helping.

I didn't realise how alone I felt with my eating and weight difficulties until I started the programme online. I just don't feel so alone anymore. It can so isolating struggling with weight and eating. I'm just doing one step at a time.

Thanks Hannah. Yeah, that makes sense all right. Just because I spilt a few drop of juice on a white shirt doesn't mean that it's ruined- I try to remind myself of that. There have been a few times this week when I've stopped after a few biscuits, and just left them. A big deal for me! The all-or-nothing can be really hard.

If I think I need to be in control around food, I'll be really good for a while, but then I'll sooner or later I'll always end up eating too much, and then thinking "What's the point, might as well keep eating". Then I just feel out of control around food, and it's awful. Being in control and out of control are such extremes. So I'm thining about just being in charge and making more mindful decisions around food. It's waayy more balanced for me!

I'm beginning to see that too, as Naz said. I eat when I feel overwhelmed or stressed. Even the smallest thing can set me off. Like an unexpected bill in the post. I need to figure this one out.

Hi Hannah, I don't get the difference between being in charge and in control of eating and food! How does that work for you??

I'm definitely in the all-or-nothing category. I've started to see that I'm like that in work too. If it's not perfect it's just not good enough-same with my eating. I need to think about being in charge instead of in control.

Eating in the Evening / Re: Eating the the Evening

I'm taking myself out of the kitchen after dinner. That's been really helpful over the last few weeks. I'm not lurking or hovering in the kitchen. Out of sight out of mind!
