Hi Naz & Clare,
Pausing more and reminding yourself to slow down and make more deliberate choices takes a lot of practice and patience. Don’t feel that you have to have your mindfulness button switched on all of the time! Eating habits take time to break, and sometimes it’s only after the packet of biscuits is demolished that we think “I should have paused before eating!” Sometimes it can help to use visuals to remind you. Some people find it helpful to put a post-it notes on the kettle or cupboard to rennin them to “Pause: Am I really hungry?”
Even 1 small victory is important because it reminds you that you CAN pause and slow down, and you know how good it can feel. 1 step at a time!
Bernadette.
